FIRE ART SOLUTIONS TRAINING
Our unique name came out of the concepts of Hojutsu....translated from the Japanses to "the art of gunnery" or "fire art". The F.A.S.T. logo combines the AR-15 bolt face with a ant. The symbol of the Ant represents preparedness, getting ready for things to come. The bolt face is the protection side of a level of preparedness. The logo was also inspired by The Warrior's Ethos Project whose author, is a Warrior mindset and preparedness blogger. He reminded me of the story of the "Ant and the Grasshopper" one of Aesops fables.
Caleb Causey ofLone Start Medics
Field and Tactical Medicine.
Caleb was a U.S. Army Combat Medic, deployed to various locations in the Balkans; where he has worked as a line medic with the 82nd Airborne and in the ER of the 212 MASH.
Now he runs his company combining Live fire and Medical Trauma training. His desire to educate his students so they can leave with confidence in times under stress that they will be prepared for the worst.
Fire Art Solutions Training was created because of the void of training in Canada. Rik teaches people to use their firearms safely and efficiently by developing basics skills which allows each student to evolve in the direction best suited for the student and their strengths.
Rik introduces students to many varieties and types of training. His specialty is pointing his students on the path of other skilled professionals to teach them the ability to help themselves and others to be more prepared.
Daniel Shaw's Tango Yankee Project
has created a much needed way to raise funds for Vets with PTSD and other traumas suffered in service of their country. Shaw's concept gives you the ability to say "Thank You (Tango Yankee)" to someone that a effected you in your life. This concept was sparked from Owen from the Warrior's Ethos Podcast during his training with Daniel Shaw. Owen wanted to say Thank You to Daniel for such an amazing class and ripped his OD green Canadian Flag off his plate carrier and presented it to Daniel.
Tom Nelson of Practical Armed Response Academy out of Utah.
Tom is the Lead Instructor of P.A.R.A.,a IDPA Master shooter, Safety Officer, Massad Ayoob Group Staff Instructor and has been a host on the Gundudes podcast which has given him unique experiences and training opportunities. After the retirement of the Gundudes he has started his own Podcast PARAcast. His whit and wisdom makes for a excellent teaching style and entertaining podcast.
MAG40 was the ultimate experience for Rik and would recommend everyone to add it on their bucket list. Massad Ayoob being a iconic figure in the use of "Deadly Force"
Massad Ayoob has published thousands of articles in gun magazines, martial arts publications, and law enforcement journals. He is the author of more than a dozen books on firearms, self-defense, and related topics, including “In the Gravest Extreme,”
Rik Woods started his firearms journey in 2011, since then his firearms training has evolved in many directions. One of his first major accomplishments was for his Black Badge and Range Officer certification through IPSC Ontario. Still craving more knowledge and instruction his friends from Slam Fire Radio introduced him to Daniel Shaw and Tom Nelson. Seeking Instructor certification, a long and frustrating search lead him to the NRA in Michigan. Rik and his partner Jessica enrolled in couples therapy with Caleb Causey of Lone Star Medics. Tactical trauma training proved to be the most important bit of training they have acquired. Jessica has been right beside Rik for most of the action with Tom Nelson and Daniel Shaw learning to manipulate her Pistol and Rifle just like anyone else.
There has been other great people that we have met on our travels in training like Emad Hazboun of HEAFS the "Bakka Boom" guy for hunter education. Last but not least Paul Carlson of Safety Solutions Academy in Ohio.
